Appeal for Historical Materials and Artifacts

The Archdiocesan Social Communication Committee (SCC) is in the process of gathering data to produce an account of the history of the Archdiocese of Kuching. This account will take the form of a video and optimistically a mini museum. In collaboration with the Archdiocese, our parish is appealing to the faithful to donate or share items of historical value with us. Some of these items may be:

  1. Early books, documents, letters, magazines pertaining to Church life. For example: old prayer books, wedding, ordination or religious profession booklets and prayer cards, newspaper cuttings, etc.

  2. Old records or certificates of birth, baptism, weddings, death, etc.

  3. Old religious articles such as rosaries, statues, lockets, pendants, crucifixes, etc.

  4. Old church vestments

  5. Old photographs of churches, chapels, important church events, plays, people, celebrations (weddings, anniversaries, First Holy Communion, baptisms) etc.

  6. Other artifacts, furnitures that may be of interest.

Items can be passed to the parish office: Fr Felix Au; Tel: 082-423424

Please label the items with your name and contact, and provide a write up of each of the items you pass to us. This way we will be able to identify the owner and be able to tell the story behind these items.

If you do not wish to donate them to the Archdiocese, you may loan them to us; we will document, photograph or make copies of them and return the original articles to you.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Together let us tell the story of how God has worked amongst us and inspire future generations to remain faithful to the Gospel.
